Molecular hydrogen gas and its therapeutic potential in recent disease progression.
分子状水素ガスの疾患進行における治療的可能性に関する考察
Abstract
This journal article examines the potential of molecular hydrogen (H2) gas in relation to various disease conditions. H2 is recognized for its selective antioxidant properties, particularly its ability to neutralize highly reactive oxygen species such as hydroxyl radicals and peroxynitrite without disturbing beneficial redox signaling. The paper reviews biological mechanisms and evidence surrounding H2 across multiple disease contexts, consolidating findings on its anti-inflammatory, anti-apoptotic, and cytoprotective roles. As no abstract was available, the scope is inferred from the title and publication context.
Mechanism
H2 selectively scavenges hydroxyl radicals and peroxynitrite, reducing oxidative stress and inflammatory signaling without disrupting normal redox homeostasis.

Delivery context
The delivery route is not clearly identifiable from this paper. For hydrogen intake, inhalation is the most efficient route; inhalation, however, carries explosion risk (empirical LFL of 10%; high-concentration devices are not recommended).
